Another worthy little museum if you don't mind a country drive into the NE Wheatbelt, is the Wyalkatchem ("wyal-catchem") Tractor museum.
Wyalkatchem is 190kms NE of Perth and is worth a drive at this time of year, because the W.A. Wildflowers are all starting to come out, and if you pick the right route, this makes for a pleasant and attractive drive, followed by a good display of 40 tractors in the Wyalkatchem Museum.

Do a Google search for "Wyalkatchem Museum" and click on "images". This will bring up numerous websites and quite a lot of photos.
If you search for "wildflower drives western australia", this will bring up quite a number of websites where wildflower drive information is listed.
The wildflowers are starting to appear in the Northern Wheatbelt at present, and they will appear in Sept/Oct in the SW of W.A.

I'd suggest if you go to Wyalkatchem, you're better to head up there on one route and take another route back.
The main route is from Perth - Northam - Goomalling - Wyalkatchem .. but you can also go Perth - Gidgiegannup - Toodyay - Goomalling - Wylkatchem. The Toodyay road is pretty windy and hilly, but the scenery is nice. Toodyay has a "historic" flavour, and there's a bloke running a substantial car restoration business there as well. He generally has a couple of cars or a light commercial on display. He's easy to find, he's on the right, in a big fairly new building on the main road, as you enter Toodyay from Perth.

York, about 100kms East of Perth, is another interesting spot with a historic flavour. You could detour to York to go to Wyalkatchem. York has the York Motor Museum, a collection of classic cars.
Just remember that the small country towns are usually pretty dead on Sundays, and nothing opens for long hours, even during the week.
You usually can't find too many shops open after 5:00PM, and fuel supplies are often limited in supply and operating hours in these towns.
These country museums are best visited during normal working hours during the week, when they're usually open from about 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

Put your foot down now and show who is boss

At your own peril ;)

Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had Given their new wives duties.

Terry had married a woman from America, and bragged that he had told his wife she needed to do all the dishes and housework. He said that it took a couple days but on the third day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were all washed and put away.

Jimmie had married a woman from Canada. He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the cooking. He told them that the first day he didn't see any results, but the next day it was better. By the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were done, and he had a huge dinner on the table.

The third man had married a Aussie girl. He boasted that he told her that her duties were to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, laundry and ironing twice a week, lawns mowed, windows cleaned and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything, but by the third day most of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye.

One little place worth looking at is Yarloop Steam Workshop. It was used by Gunn's and when we were there in 2005 you were walking around the place expecting the workers to come back from lunch

Here are a couple of pics I took when we were there

and finally

we stopped for a 1/2 hour break and left 3 hours later

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

Oooh, nearly forgot! Premier ag event of the year is on, on the 24th and 25th of August .. the Dowerin Field Days. Held over two days, it showcases all the latest machinery, trucks, trailers (including roadtrains), cars, utes, 4WD's and tools.
Retailers have huge displays with tools on special .. there are hundreds of exhibitors, lots of food, fashion parades, music, entertainment, vintage cars, trucks & tractors, inventions, farm dog displays, accessories for vehicles, you name it .. nearly as good as the Sydney Easter Show.

Dowerin is about 160km NE of Perth, East of Goomalling .. you need a full day to see only three-quarters of it.
Watch out for the speed cameras along the way .. there are always speed cameras on the entry or outskirts of the towns, on both of the Field Days .. catching those who are a little too late in slowing down, or too quick in speeding up .. :'(

Rod, I've got one them. Many years ago, myself, Missus and her 20 yr old son were walking through Northbridge, going back to the car after a feed at a restaurant. We had to stroll past a nightclub that was on the other side of the road. As we reached the nightclub, a bouncer dragged a drunken patron out, and promptly proceeded to give the patron a hiding on the footpath (that he probably richly deserved, but I won't go into that :) ).

Next thing, the missus is across the road like a flash and has the bouncer by the collar! .. telling him .. "THAT'S ENOUGH!!! .. " :o :o :o

Son John (3rd Dan black belt karate and jiu-jitsu champion) and myself (Vietnam Vet trained to disarm enemy when weaponless) were all standing back, mouths agape, speechless .. exercising prudent care and non-intervention with a 150kg gorilla of a bouncer .. and watching this woman bring the proceedings to a rapid halt!

I dunno who was more stunned! John & I, or the bouncer! He ceased his pummelling of the hapless patron immediately, never laid a finger on the missus, and turned and went back inside the club!

She came back to us, all fired up with indignation at the club patron getting his just desserts .. but we were trying to say .. "Aahhhh, we didn't wanna see that, and neither did we want to get in between them!" ::)

She sure is plucky, and has a good sense of right and wrong, and maybe being a police superintendents daughter had something to do with that.
However, we did explain to her that grabbing a 150kg gorilla bouncer by the collar isn't exactly the sensible thing to do, and she could have easily been decked.
It didn't bother her, she saw something she believed was wrong (excessive force) and just wanted to put a stop to it. Gotta admire the girl. 8-)
