I don't know whether this made the rounds on the down-under news channels but an apartment house collapsed in Vienna with some casualties. I happened to pass by today...

Police blocked a part of the street (Mariahilferstrasse, a fairly major street actually) with trams terminating further up. They will most likely have to take down the whole building...

Ambulances were at hand on stand by - the casualties were already taken away but firefighters were working, so...

First time I ever saw this, a disaster unit including a mobile op room.

I spoke to the ambulance crews and as of today nobody knows what caused it. A nasty business by all accounts - I live not too far and sometimes walk that very part of the street, so I should consider myself lucky not to be one of the poor buggers who died.

Cheers
T

The only ambulance in my just-prepared Cuba set.
Any clues for make/model?

Looks like a Peugeot J5 to me, once popular all over Europe (and also in Israel), but not a model which was exported downunder I think.

We used to have loads of these in the UK.
They were sold as Talbot Express, and put out through Peugeot dealers. There are many UK Ambo converters and this could have been built in UK.
Express was an odd name as they wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, but were very cheap.
They were a Citroen product originally.
