Greetings. My Father worked for the Highways Department post war until retirement, maybe even before the war. Anyone got an idea of what the make of this grader is. All suggestions appreciated.

That Diamond badge on the frame looks familiar, Moore?

1938 Moore. We can see it is Fordson tractor based.

The cast housing below motor on Overlanders photo looks McCormick Deering.

Hi,

the orientation of the drivers roof is different to all the Moore's posted by Lang.

I think it is a Moore Grader, and as David also suggests, McCormick Deering powered, possibly W30.

Im fairly sure these were commonly known as "Road Patrol" as Fordson Road Patrol
Or what ever brand of tractor was powering

Thinking Fordson was the most common

But also thinking local shires equipped them with what ever local dealer they had

Back when shires supported the local community

I think that is a local roof (could even be wood uprights) to give the driver a bit of shade as he would be hanging out the side on the number two operating wheel for a lot of road edge work.

I thought the photo might be reversed because all the others have the second wheel on the left but the PTO drive is in the right place on the right so looks like you had a choice of sides.

I don't think it is a Fordson, could also be a Massey Harris with the rolled boilerplate frame

I reckon this photo was taken before Dad enlisted so I'm guessing around 1939/40. Nifty little Cat though.
