well my new gearbox turned up from woop woop Victoria :) 250 bucks freight.
I pulled the side off & it was full of water >:(

I was assured it was the one i needed after 1/2 doz emails & a couple of phone calls.

well it has quite a few differences, i rang & got just send it back at my cost >:( hmmm $500 down the drain.

So i'm goin to try & make one up out of the 2, my original is only about 50% complete.
the replacement hasen't got the gear brake, has a different front (internal ) shaft with smaller dia and less splines where it goes into the flywheel.
All the rear gears for the hydrolic pump are helical, where mine are strait cut.
Also the rear shaft for the pump is a smaller dia with less splines.
There are also internal differences, the lower main shaft is turned down & threaded at the rear etc etc.
Cross fingers i can make something up...

It was getting dark so give it away, does anyone know how to get the last shaft out of the housing??

Trev - I've got no manuals on your gearbox, but the earlier 306 and 354 Countryman gearbox manual, shows a similar setup, and the shaft just slides out of the gear once the rear section and the end bearing is removed. That's the reverse idler gear and shaft, isn't it?

I got the idler shaft out, pin type bolt in the side of the case covered in yrs of crud.

looks like i should be able to use the drive gears off the wreckers box & the shaft & pump gears off mine to make one up, even though the replacement didn't have a clutch brake, it has a place for it & where it rubs on the idler gear.

all my rear pump gears are straight cut, the replacement box which is surpost to be earlier are helical cut, i'd have thought it would be the other way round??

Found most of the bearings, a few tricky ones coming from interstate.
Thanks
Trev

Griffiths Traders at Wauchope, NSW are specialist backhoe and earthmoving wreckers. They might be able to sell individual parts, and they will certainly know what goes where.

Well the box is close to being finished, i still need to get one bearing for the pump output shaft.

This box is different to my original, my pump shaft where it went into the splines in the flywheel is a larger dia with 13 splines, i need an 11 spline one for this box... any ideas where i could find one????????
