Howdy Fella's,
Cam, you have no idea how good it feels to get a truck that needs no bodywork. The bloke that restored this old girl is one of the cleverest guys Ive met. All the bodywork is new, even the pressed pieces that make up the cab frame have been made and all spot welded together.
It did the back to the track run from Alice to Darwin in 95 and has done a few shorter runs since but thats about it. The donk is a problem though.
I spent some time today making a list of the timber and bits and pieces I need to build the tray for it from all the info in the parts manual. All I have to do now is make a decision on which one do I try and finish for the drive up through the dirt to Alice next year.
Gidday Roland, Sarge
I reckon its a bonza buggy....should have some fun with it on some of our into the bush bundy fuelled prospecting trips.
Basil

A very nice find. Will certainly show those grey nomads what a real 4WD looks like.

Thanks for the positive comments.
The decision was made today after the stinky old petrol played up again....3-53T Detroit has found a home.
Purists will get upset but thats okay cos...its my truck.
GMC has been side shifted to get this thing sorted for the desert run to Alice next year.

Way to go,most trucks over 30 years old where modified by changing running gear quite often before they where delivered.Get yourself something you`ll enjoy, and you get value for your money. It`ll sound better too mate.
