I remember reading somewhere,Trucking Life maybe?,and someone had tracked Waltzing Matilda down, this was 5 or 10 years ago I can`t remember, and it had ended up in Tasmania with a tray body on it.I googled Tyrone Malone recently, and he died in a car accident when he fell asleep at the wheel and hit a truck, one of his kids commented that he would have been proud because he did a couple of 360`s after hitting the truck.

Well bigcam it's your lucky day.........Waltzing Matilda is sitting here in Tassie about 60-70 km's away from me. Owned by a Honey/bee keeping company and had a semi flat top to tow the hives about.

Just took a look at that old movie and saw a Mack B 61single drive having a go at an Acco, at around the 2 mins 30 sec mark.

Now who knows, who owned that Mack ?

That thingy used to do a hard days graft up and down the highways, then at weekends, he used to do the drag racing with it. He even left it in full race trim when he was hitched up to his trailer, once seen, never forgotten. Now I dont know what the top speed was when he wound it right out, but I can tell you this, it sure wasn't bloody legal what he was capable of doin'.

Saw it twice out on the road, first time I was heading to Melb down the Newell, about half way between Gundy and Moree, this aparation was heading towards me and boy, was it swaying from side to side. You kind of get to know, that when you see something swaying like that, just get the hell out of it's way. I stepped of the tar and let him have it, then when he went past, the wind from him pushed me even further into the grass.
By the livin' jesus, he was bloody quick.
Next time it was out near Willcania, same thing again, hit the dirt to get away from that crazy swaying trailer.

Came to the conclusion right there and then, that whoever was driving it, was a complete and total nutter.

Howdy,

Waltzing Matilda was in the Whiteman Park motor museum north of Perth up until 16 months ago .
They were trying to get rid it for ages and offered it to anyone in our club ..free to good home. They got rid of it to make room for more historically important Austin A30's and snotty Bentleys.
Who got it I dont know but its still in WA apparently.
