Swishy,
I must be mad posting this but here goes......
Trucks don't need bonnets any more..
Trucks don't need to sound like an oncoming Storm....
Trucks don't need complicated wheel construction...
Trucks don't need excessive chrome....
Trucks don't need manual gearboxes ......
Every thing has a computer theses days....
Real Modern Efficient Comfortable trucks come from Europe.
Trucks trace their roots back to Europe.(not USA)
MAN. and Scania are in my opinion, the best today.
Ask LinFox or the Australian forces.
They seem to agree..
European Trucks Rule, I say.
This is 2015, embrace technology, don't whinge about it !
Over to you Swishmeister....
By the way I do agree about V**** !
Cheers
RS

G'Day Swish,
Thanks for your answers.
This forum is about Historic vehicles, so I know I am off course with my post.
We are both entitled to our views, even if they are different !
I really do believe that a modern COE has more chance of avoiding an accident using todays technology.
Noisy trucks are not necessary...
Chrome is just weight and maintenance.
Autobox's less tiring ?
I know you don't like 'puters..
Creature comforts do get you there ?
You are the one saying about US roots, looking in 'yer mirrors..
I am saying truck/engine roots are in Europe ?
It would be a Bloody boring place if we all agreed ?
I am European, and am standing up for their products.
No Hard feelings Mate...
Cheers

my truck of choice was a Suzuki mightyboy running the hume with a 6x4 trailer, the sound of power coming out of the 1" pipe was something to behold... sort of a similar sound as when your trying to hold a fart in on your honeymoon ~ :-X~

The topic heading is a bit misleading "tective" ... as Atkipete can rightly claim the AACO/ACCO/IVECO is probably the most famous Aussie Truck in many ways... (read his book)...
But the one/s we love the best... thats a whole other wan of corms...
These Innovative versatile and fairly stylish trucks rock my boat.
engine & drive train of your choice.. reasonable cab/sleeper/ wrap around dash/bostrom seat, ear muffs... fuel card...
and this slightly earlier lady with a gardner, almost worth the argument/fight/divorce????
Nah... but

Just a Q for Swish,
Why do the air cleaners come all the way forward to the windscreen in the older cab overs.
