dont worry about the center of the steering wheel the whole steering wheel has been customised, did you see the pearl white wheel? dont see to many of those? only if you pay some $600 to a bloke that now lives in Bega.

I understand the front exhausts used to be required on fuel tankers. However my source may be wrong

Gday Bruce

We also have front mounted exhausts.
They have to be used to meet 'Petroleum Regs'.
Apparently it dates back to the use of Petrol engines and the very occasional problem where a spark could come out :o

I always wonder why they point them towards the pavement, and not out to the road.

It used to be quite amusing to hit the exhaust brake and frighten pedestrians...woffle,woffle, woofleuuugh, psssshhh, click
.... those were the days :)

Cheers

The front mounted exhausts where pretty well mandatory on tankers in those days.I wonder if they are still legal today?Dangerous Goods vehicles have covers over motors and exhausts,so the front exhaust makes sense.I remember my Old Man put one of those front mounted exhausts on one of his Commers years ago.I could be wrong but as long as it`s coming out the right hand side (as long as your not in NSW,otherwise it`s got to be up),it`s all right.
Another little known fact is that the only legal way to have an exhaust stack is to have it facing straight back,or straight up.Out to the side is Illegal. That`s one most Machinery inspectors either ignore or arn`t aware off.

If you visit Italy, there are many trucks with rear exhausts, with the outlet below the last cross-member.

I saw many 4 axle trucks with about 25' of exhaust :o

Cheers
