French old trucks

We got some Panhard trucks down here at one stage, see www.roadtransport.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-tb.cgi/79283

That's an impressive looking bus Tatra.

It does but in service, under local conditions, they did not shine (even if they were kept running by all these modifications). The original engines were underpowered, steering used to kick back like a mule, they had a tendency to pitch and the vibrations were soemthing to behold. However, they did serve the purpose of opening people's eyes to the possibilities available with an integral bus. The later ones were better but by then all the big Israeli operators got sold on the Leyland Royal Tiger...

How they were first exported is in itself an unusual story - more later.

A Panhard 5t Movic in Poland:used for trams maintenance

An old ,but restored with a flashy red,PEUGEOT truck.
The firm is more famous for cars but until 1952 they built the DMA typ with 2 tons of payload .
Some were used by German army on the Russian front.
