Good question and I don’t actually know but it once had a crate on the back apparently. I think it is a winch/ratchet setup for putting it on and off. I haven’t had a chance to give it a decent inspection to work it out properly though.

very hard to enlarge the photo but are they chain drives for a super or manure spreader which sits on the tray and running off a ground drive?

Just hit the old owner up and it was for a drop down ramp/rear door for the stock crate that was on the back. Everyone’s ideas sounded way better than the reality. Haha
