I think if the roll of wire takes a while to use and sits for months between uses the wire cant get rust on it
A lot of people rap rags and the like around the spool
The ear plug thing is good for give it a clean on the way thru and can only help I would think
Paul

Couple of things I’ve noticed.
Bunnings wire will do the job, but well known brand gives neater more predictable weld quality.
Fresh is always best, sometimes it pays to chuck older wire and start anew.

I always enjoy your videos Paul(becoming addictive); seeing somebody else chewing through cutting discs and grinding welds is therapeutic. plus a batch of good backing music (never heard Browndog;'s song - The Sequel before).
Thought that crossed my mind with the I beam section: Does an I beam have greater torsional integrity than a square tube? I would have thought using a square tube, uncut, would have been equally rigid and a damn sight less work.
Second thought: Your hat needs some maintenance across the front, or do you use the hanging piece as an amusement factor or for flicking away flies?
PS I did not fall asleep, and had to smile at your "bugger me, have I really done all this?" expression when you finished after what must have been a very long day (or days?).

It sure is a way of learning the 'how to do' things watching Paul in full flight with this rebuild. My thoughts on the "I" beam instead of the square tube would be the "I" beam may be stronger as it is x2 thickness in the centre. Yes a lot of work but worth it in the end. I too liked the comment "bugger me, have I really done all this?" a great way to end this part of the story. You are really making good progress on this and look forward to the next thrilling episode.
