collecting boxes from port is always a gamble with unseen loads which are unsecured and lop-sided. Notice that the door latches are still in the closed position. Not a bad idea to load with doors facing to the rear.

I thought they HAD to be loaded with the doors to the rear, and presumably for this reason?

Jarrod.

Never heard of such a thing Jarrod

It's a bit hard to unload two 20 footers by hand with out at least one of them facing forwards

Anytime I have collected containers I have been asked if I want the doors to the front or the back ?

So Im guessing they can go on either way quite safely

Fair enough. Maybe it's just for tilt trays.

Jarrod I can only tell of my experience

Apparently chaining containers on like I generally do is frowned upon, but no law enforcement offical has ever commented on me doing that yet

However I may have been lucky

Does anyone on here share some knowledge on this as I really dont know

FWIW
When we cart MT containers
they no longer called a container
it is now called a temporary storage box
mainly coz the shipping container is @ the end of its life
and cannot be used for shipping due to age or rust or damage

All the Ports, empty container Parks & mainstream Container Haulers Insist on Twist Locks....

From memory, it was a tilt tray operator that told me about doors having to be facing rearward. I can only take him at his word.
I would be curious to know if it is, indeed mandatory.
