Regarding the "Wingfoot Highway Express", I remember reading that in, I think it was 1934?, Firestone sponsored this truck on an "Across USA" run to prove to truck operators that (their) pneumatic tyres were a viable option for all on-road trucking operations.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

I think it says Goodyear on the side of the truck. Wingfoot is their logo. Goodyear is the largest independent tyre company in the world. The Company is named after Harvey Goodyear who invented rubber vulcanising.
Douglas Tires
Dunlop Tyres (North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand)
The Kelly Springfield Tire Company (United States)
Fierce
Lee
Sava (Slovenia)
Fulda (Germany)
Dębica (Poland)
Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems, LLC
Bluestreak (Indonesia)
Regetta (Australia) Distributed by KMART
LS2000 (Japan) Distributed by Goodyear Autocare

Firestone were their main competitors. Both companies based in Akron Ohio. Firestone sold to Japanese Bridgestone.

The first run was in 1917. Truck in the photo 1920 year.

Sorry, I did mean Goodyear. I wrote it in a hurry. It is many years since I read the story. It could well have been 1917-1920.
