Was also available in 4 door. In my youth a neighbour bought new, a black XP 4 dr with red interior. very nice....... Here is a photo of one sold at Shannonsasw120 wrote: Lang, I think you're right that the Futura name was only used on the two - doors, but I thought it was a trim option above standard. Some research required....

Love those squires, fake wood and all. Frank Matich had a white one when brand new, he used to come into my brother in laws BP garage at Carlingford, as Frank was sponsored by BP at that stage.

The Futura was a trim level, and was introduced before the two-door hardtop. Then it was available in both versions.

180626Tu Metro Twitter - ~1964-76 Flinders St, Mars Bar truck. This came from PROV, with a request for dating help.
Princes Bridge Plaza can be no earlier than 1964 (when the new station was commissioned), and may have been completed later. Work was still in progress on the station in Oct.66 (when I caught a special train to Healesville from it). By Dec.66, the plaza was open. During my Christmas job between Matriculation (year 12) and starting university, I tried eating lunch there: windswept and attacked by seagulls and/or pigeons. The early respondents noted that fur went out of fashion late 60s to early 70s. Others use the T-shirt to suggest early-mid 70s. Production of Mars Bars in Australia commenced at Ballarat in 1979, removing the need to import any more.
Unfortunately, the truck and trailer clue is of limited benefit.

I dont reckon 20 foot containers were around until the late 60's in Australia
And looking like a fridge one would have made it early 70's as people still used ice even into the early 70's I'm fairly sure
But may have that all wrong
Paul

We're gaining, across three groups. International container traffic started in 1969, and grew slowly through 1970 and onwards. I can date older photos from clothing and hairstyles, but not this era. There is the cutoff of 1979 (local production). Others are pitching a cutoff of 1975-76 by the hair and clothing. This may be as close as we get: early to mid 1970s.

No idea when the 50 million Maras Bars arrived however while it will not help the front axle and suspension is Fruehauf. On the other hand while I find it hard to agree with Swishy the rego label is well worth considering. Post 1988 but like my mate Wodda eye kno

Not being a trucking guy, have never seen chains on a truck trailer hitch before.
This one appears to have crossed chains under the draw bar.
