No, Paul all good, note today's date 01 Aug.

She does the credit card accounting so it won't show until the September bill.

I am creating an aging plan that seems to have matriarchal support. For all my life I have been the strongest bloke on the lift but in the last couple of years something has gone wrong and I don't seem to be able to do it as well and it hurts now too. Limping and rubbing my back after a big lift in the shed has caused alarm so I sneaked up on it and won approval, in fact pressure, to buy a ute crane last week.

I am working on the principal the Mack is just a big ute.

Lang, if you want a ute crane. I have a good one with a purpose-built hydraulic cylinder and is all self-contained. The previous owner welded a socket on the top so you adjust it with a ratchet handle. It has manual slew. I have never used it. but saw it working the day I bought it. It cost me $250 and I would like to get my money back.

It is made for a ute or small truck so is too small for Froggie Dog.

I will send a photo to your phone as I cannot attach it to the forum.

The same offer goes to anyone else who sends me their phone number but I will give Lang first choice.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

A pair of collectors I know, father and son ,have thousands of tone of stuff,at least 30 trucks that might go ,and struggle doing everything by hand methods......The son says he has two hernias from lifting ......Anyway ,I suggest turning one of the trucks into a backender crane for the yard ....no way .....So I suggest they get a forklift .......What do they get .....aWW2 solid tyre Clark 'Carloader"....tiny do-nut solids for a sandy yard ......doesent evn go ,and is already bogged...........Heres ,the funniest part......some 50 years ago when the collection started ,there was a Chev Blitz jib crane ,genuine exarmy type, and very handy IMHO ,but had to go ,because "he hated Blitzes",and only wanted American trucks.

Thanks for the offer but the ute crane picked up today and already fitted. 1,000lb capacity close in so I will have to put on a wind down leg I have sitting here to avoid twisting the tray. Also will put on a small boat trailer hand winch and running rope as a fixed hook single boom crane is bloody useless.

Sticks up way above the cab making it 2.5m high. A few low car parks are only 2.4 or even less. Luckily it just lifts out of its slewing socket and I can make some headboard brackets to carry it when not in use.

This is the one. Got a good 50% off deal brand new.

This is the modification I will do.

Navarra with it on.

I fitted one of those ute cranes as in the top pic to my box trailer on the draw bar. Intially fitted to load stationary engines to go to rallies. Now it gets a good work out on many things. Even loaded those MaDonald engines into the trailer which levelled out the near new leaf springas on the trailer. Bloody handy things they are.

As Cobbadog said, They're handy things to have..
I made up a drop down stabilizer leg for My Ute, Makes a big Difference. particularly when you're lifting a full 200 Litre Drum of Oil with It..

Lang, Your ute crane looks like mine would have when new. I wonder if mine lifts out of it's base as well? I have never tried . It would explain why the column seems to be made in two pieces.

You live and learn!

The boat winch and leg ideas both sound good. There was a detailed description of making such a leg from an old Lighburn jack on this forum recently.
