g,day all, have been watching this thread for a while with great interest and had to have my two bobs worth..met KR in the Caringbah pub (Sydney) possibly 10 yrs ago,he said he had an agitator truck working for one of the local batching plants if I remember correctly..had a good old yarn as I was running Townsville -Darwin with general freight at the time so had a bit in common to tell lies about.....spoke to a mate of mine last night who drove KR,s 450 for a while before starting driving for Nick Koorey(early 80,s) I also remember the CCT Hayes 8 wheeler and dog loading hides or meat meal at the Cape River meatworks near Pentland (NQ) probably1975.,I was loading hanging beef for Townsville boning room at the time (piloting two tone green B model or cabover mack in those days)..anyway getting a bit of track, hope this is of interest..hooroo. G'Day Gidgeajack and All, Welcome to the thread mate, Caringbah Pub would have been one of KR's local watering holes while he lived in Miranda. You two would have shifted a few tons of freight that day and you're in good company. I ran into one of the PCT Road Lines drivers yesterday and will be catching up soon. Will be able to ad some of his thoughts and a few more photo's. I was talking to your mates old boss today and he is helping us out also. I apologized to him for the way some of us have been spelling his name during his mention on the thread. We've often talk of Nick Koorey but I hadn't seen his name written and wasn't sure at the beginning and took a punt on the politicians spelling. I was wrong! More proof about politicians.!! Driving the CCT Hayes back then may have been Bernie Hart. I know he did a fair stint in it around that tme among others. Lots of those two tone trucks up there, isn't there gidgea? Thanks mate and hope you can get on again. Here's a shot of the two men mentioned below reminiscing over old times in the Tavern at The Alice 2005.
Left. Nick Koorey Right. Kevin Russell.
I cant remember the fellow in the middle..........Someone help?

of course I'm not very good I've only driven in the dark

I see there is only one mention of Howard Broad on this whole thread. Howard was one of the nicest blokes you could hope to meet. He was also one of the funniest. He was a talented artist as well as being an interstaterfreightermanipulter of the highest order. Howard was a pommie and did his time at Fodens, I had known him for some time before I found out he was a pom. He drove PCT

I know this is not the right place to put this .... but. VFA ( Victor Francis Arnold) formerly of Canningtons, PCT, Kingstons, Rex Andrews tpt has passed away last night (10pm 06.03.12) He died of multiple organ failure although he was ailing with other matters. As I get more information I will post here, unless there is a better place, But I think Victor would have liked it here amongst the trucks. :'(

Hi Beam, GDay mate, Its far from how it appears, Howards not forgotten for one moment, I am hoping to get enough things together to do a part on Howard himself showing all his talents and him as the much loved man he was. One of the trucks has his handwriting on the Dashboard. I went to amend the list of the men in an #reply earlier in the thread but missed the modify time. Howard had so many skills and his machining and lathe work was brilliant.
Your spot on Hi Beam, Howard is held in the highest esteem. :) ;)
