I hadn't heard that before Morris

They did a few shows togerher and I never got the impression they may not of liked each other

That been said, they may of been tp professional to carry on like performers of more recent times

This is one i came across a few days ago, it referred to a certain USA businessman turned politition.  I think it sums him up very well.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

I suspect a lot of that is from your (and my) name.

Remember our parents telling us they had to walk 14 miles to school barefoot in the snow (in tropical Queensland) or as Monty Python said "live in the middle of the road in a cardboard box"

An old Vietnamese saying I came across yesterday::-

There are only two times in life.
