Fixed: I forgot my own earlier advice, and left the <> markers in. Removing them has solved everything.

I have yet to process my recent south-east Asia vehicles systematically. As I returned from a morning photographing river & lake ferries, I was passed by a lengthy funeral procession. I don't know if the deceased had been a teacher, but the procession was headed and tailed by squads of schoolchildren.
Tradition has been modernised a little. The vehicle was hauled/pushed by human power, but was riding on pneumatic tyres.

are you sure the deceased was actually gone to god? I recon it might have been someones mother in law, there was enough fellas holding the lid down!
All rubbish aside, when I worked in Malaysia, one of the older laborers father (65ish) past away, the funeral was a real celebration and very respectful.
The laborer then became the patriarc (head) of the family as the oldest male.

I have just returned from a month in USA, travelling over steam tourist railways, mainline railways, urban trams & buses, and visiting museums.
One impressive museum is Forney Museum of Transportation, close to downtown Denver (Colorado). It is reachable by bus, and is adjacent to a major ice-hockey stadium. It has been assembled from several collections, and has an extensive motor-vehicle display, and extensive motorcycle display, and some railway, tram, aviation and horse equipment. It also has many outfits from Mrs Forney's historic-costume collection.
See: <www.forneymuseum.org>
Most of the vehicles were private, not commercial.
Here is a 1937 Packard hearse.

Hi Rod, here's some pics of two of these hearse's you might be interested in that I found on the internet. I do have A few other pics of valiant hearses if you are interested,-note;these are pics I "found", I do not know who the owners are.
QUOTE-Chrysler Valiant VG two-door hardtop hearse, one of only three made.
Chrysler in USA drew plans for an A-body two-door station wagon.
Chrysler Australia , received the plans, but didn't explore the concept any further, as the VF/VG ran for only 2 years.
A coach builder obtained the plans, and made three vehicles, to be used as a children's hearse.
All the body panels (apart from the tailgate) were from other Chrysler models and were ordered from the factory direct.
1967-69 Dodge Dart body (from windscreen to tail lights).
The roof was taken from a conventional Australian four-door station wagon.
The C pillar was an Australian Chrylser Valiant sedan's one.
Engine 245 hemi 2bbl; auto transmission.
Mag wheels: ROH Hustlers, with NOS Cheviot caps.
RIP-000 numberplates came with the vehicle.

ALSO-MOPAR is short for MOtor PArts, used by Chrysler spare parts division since the early '30s.
Cheers Bruce.

Interesting that those two hearses had different side windows. I remember the silver one in photo 2 was owned by Burdekin funerals in Ayr, later owned by a budget funeral mob in Townsville (might have been Fitzgeralds?) a beautiful car in its day.

They would certainly be collectors items now. Quite stylish looking jiggers. Interesting number plate on the second hearse too. My young bloke has always had a hankering to own a hearse. Thankfully he has'nt bought one as yet. Cheers Tim
