Hi Cam,
It was only 200ks Swan Hill to Bendigo. It's staying at Sarge's place until it's time for the Display Day in November then I'll bring it home to Canberra. That'll put another 700k on the clock.

IH. you got all the models covered by the look of it.
nice line up.
brings back memorys I forgot about the funny little handbrake
they had. didn't need it when i put the big full air diff in.
It had maxi's. I cant remember what ratio the diff was.
I think it done about 68 mph from memory used to get along
pretty good. I just left it in LO range till i got into top.
I always hit the red button in top an just used the 10 speed.
There was about 1000 revs in lo hi and abt 500 in the RR

It went well it used to get up Mt Victoria with 23 ton payload grossing around 30 tons back in the good old days.... Mark

Hi Mark,
I'm a bit bemused by the handbrake on mine. Doesn't seem to have any ratchet mechanism and doesn't feel like it's doing anything. I'll have to get underneath and figure out how it works because it won't get a roadworthy unless it's working. Full air brakes would be good too, but the air over hydraulics pull it up alright.

The ratchet used to wear all the time. They were not a good set up

I knew a fellow that had 3 of them and only one handbrake

He used to swap them around at rego time
I did my time with the early c series and the were a great little motor

But they suffered the same cam and follower problems.
You had to give them a hot set every 20 thousand to stop
them fron blowing smoke. 60 inch pounds on the injectors

Most of them will clatter at idle. That is the aux drive thrust washers

I had a 6" blue flame in the dark when it was running good....Mark

At least it's not a TK handbrake which, if you're not careful, gives you an unpleasant party favour if you misjudge your entry/exit.

Bought a IH parts book off eBay and I am now pretty sure my c line is in fact a D 1950, so now I can start looking for the right badges etc for it.

Anyone know what year the C Line finished and the D Line started?

Also the only identification on the truck is a plate on the inner edge of the passenger door which says:
accoD1820 WB142
chassis accoD7151
GVW 28000
GCW 46000

I'm guessing that's not original and the P.O. has grabbed it off an acco to convince Vic Roads of the GVW and GCW.

Anybody got a better guess?

Has anyone else got access to a C or D line and able the check the plate on the passenger door to see what the recorded chassis number is.. it seems very strange that a C or D line would have ACCO as a prefix... the number stamped in the chassis is the same without the ACCO prefix, and no signs of tampering. :-?

Atkipete.... please explain????
