Coming along nicely Urchy.
Noticed plumbing section in the big green stores have a selection of boots for roof penetrations. Might work for some truck floor boots. Yours look neat.
All the best, Paul.

Thanks all.
With all this positive feedback on the steering wheel I might just keep the pink.
Actually, I think I might look to use rubber tape/self amalgamating tape/splicing tape, whatever you like to call it.
When the windscreen lads were here they suggested I used a razor and polish the rest of the glass to tidy it all up. I did stage one and used a blade on all the glass today. Certainly cleans it up and was quite cathartic. Will look to polish it tomorrow. I highly recommend doing it if you haven’t before and your glass is a bit how ya going.

I have never heard of polishing glass in cars before
Did you go over the window with a razor blade as step 1 ?

I think the use of the razor blade used flat against the glass just gets rid of the majority of the dirt and grime, then it's time to clean it up. There was or still is a window product called RAINEX which is a glass polish and is why water runs off easily.

Rainex is not a polish but a liquid laminate doing the same job as silicon without the smears. Just beads the water and helps stop stuff sticking. Will not do anything for scratches and permanent water stains.
You need an abrasive for polishing. I have used this and it is really good. Daughter used rough steel wool to remove a sticker on her car and really cut into the glass, this stuff fixed it. Also have removed wiper blade scratches with a bit of elbow grease as well, electric polisher helps. $20 at Supercheap. There are a few other common brands as well.

Yes. The glass is many times harder than paint so you would have to let the pad get pretty dry to create swirls. I never had any problem even getting into the windscreen on vintage vehicles to remove the deep wiper arm scratches.
