That's just the stress showing from all those years working on Cummaparts....
Back on topic for sec- if you have a Cummins in your boat and your lucky enough to have 2 auxiliary drives, you can put the raw water cooling pump on one and your hydraulic pump for your steering on the other. Where does the air compressor go? Then what about the the hydraulics for the deck winch or anchor? Maybe you want another alternator to run the inverter? The answer is simple....
Detroit- just go to the next hole along...
Cummins and others- fabricate and curse at a multiple pulley pump drive shaft hanging off the front of the crank.

we are getting a little off topic here.....I did actually stick up for the detroit......pointing out that he was comparing detroits to lemons......this was supposed to be an informed article on the virtues of diesels......all he did was talk crap.
said it before.....say it again for the last time.....he has no idea about diesel engines....no matter the brand!!

and another bone of contention!!!!
why would he bother to try and compare a cat 3208 (the 2nd worse engine ever invented, behind the cummins v8-185) to an 8v-71???????
he obviously is out of his league and just a story writer!!!!
