Hi Pierre, my experience with club rego has been,
- if the rego number is no longer on the system, OR
- if the previous rego number is unknown,
an identity inspection is required, (but not a roadworthy inspection).
As i am in a country area, the local Police do the identity inspection.
I usually get the ID inspection done first, then get the MR334, and take both to the Motor Reg office at the time of applying for registration, and have had no problems. By presenting both forms at the time of application, there is no need for them to ask questions, everything they require is on "official" paper, filled out by an "official" person.
It sounds like once you have the identity inspection done you will be set. Good luck!
