Well not a lot to report, got new hoses made for the power steering
The return hose they gave me didn't even touch the barbs let alone grip on them
So back to the hydraulic place today and after been told that the fittings as in the barbs are wrong and we can just silver solder new ones on
Im going nah, this cant be right
The blokes getting pretty frustrated with me but I was sure something was wrong
Yes it was the same as the sample, but it had just been squashed down to nothing with those bolt style hose clamps
Well the boss man walked passed and enquired as to the problem and when the worker showed him the boss looks at me and says, " power steering off a truck ?"
Yes it is
"You'll need this 'Trucker hose' " (yes that is what is written on the hose)
Anyway it fits perfectly and to me was worth the time and effort to chase up as it really is the only oil leak the truck has apart from the winch
Lost the best part of a day sorting that out
Got some new S cam bushes for the front axle, ordered the new hub seals, tried so far unsuccessfully to order the compressor, called Gleemans and for the first time ever found them pretty useless and the fella almost abusive or rude maybe, tried the local to me Mack dealer and was surprised at how useful they were
A lot has to do with whom you get at the counter, the bloke that I first dealt with did the standard "vin number please" after doing this for some years I have all this information on the phone in photos, stops all the "that number isnt right" or "your missing parts of the number" as the photo of the plate is right there in front of them
Anyway another bloke walks past and hears what's goung on and asks a few questions and wanders off to return with the said parts
He was a youngish fella as well so I was quite impressed
So all in all not much progress at all, day 3 of the week is starting and it's getting warmer, so that will add to the excitement
Paul

You're wasting your Time even trying them Now Paul.
They've been bought out (& had a name change) by some Mob who only retail New Truck parts The wrecking yard has (Or is in the Process of being) Closed..
Very sad to see the end of such an Iconic Business ..

Cheers Cobba & Cobbarette
Coopernook, The Centre of our Universe
Working on more play time.
Hope you got the name of the helpful young bloke for 2 reasons. You ask for him next time and let his boss know how good he is.
Sounds like you may be supporting the local Mack dealer a bit more now.

Cobba no name yet, gotta go there tomorrow hopefully if parts arrive as planned
Will see what I can learn then
So got the hoses on as far as I can go
Hayseed was right about Gleemans so I ordered a new rebuilt one from Wollongong so hopefully it turn up ok
Got all the front end back together except the wheels and hubs as the new seals havent yet arrived
Funny looking brake shoes, look different than the old ones and actually line up with S cams properly
Also rebushed and re sealed the S cams
Notice the two speings on the lower puns of the brake shoes, normal just a pin with a bolt or a couple of circlips, very fancy and took a while to get the first side fitted
So onto the tip turbine, its all apart and ordered new bearings tonight
So looks like other fun things for tomorrow, my parts from Mack should be in
Also have had some other non truck related stuff turn up so will be kept busy doing other things, fitting automatic sliding gate motors and the list goes on
The floor can be pulled out and the lid lifted off the box
Always something to do
