Roadranger questions

The first 15 speeds had the deep low knob mounted on the dash ,with an up/down on the gearstick...........I dont want to make assumptions,but Id think on a single drive ,the deep low in a 613 wouldnt be needed in normal driving .........we used to like it on brick trucks ,as you could creep around on site without securing the load ....but I never used it on the road with a DT466 motor.............and these motors were incredibly gutless at low revs .........some California emissions crap.

John, what you described is how I remember the KW'S of Brown &Mitchell that I drove occasionally, I never knew if they were 10 speed od with a Joey or something or a 15 , the switch on the dash was marked deep reduction.... never needed on any trip I did.

Could be a good way out for you Scout.

The two switch option is one I have considered, but from my reading of the Roadrunner service manual, I would also need to install a lockout module to prevent disaster should one accidentally select low range on one while high range was selected on the other. What the cost is of a lockout module and how easy they are to purchase, I haven't explored. I might go for the stick extension (thanks Hayseed) and original RR knob combination first off to see how that goes.
