Chocs, you got the name all wrong, they were never really known as Loiusvilles by most operators/ drivers/ drovers/ steerin'wheel attendants.

They were given the very appropriate name of LOOSELYBUILTS and for a very good reason.

You ever watch one coming at you from front-on at night, on any road, rough or smooth, those bloody headlights danced a jig better than an Irishman could ever do, even bounced around better than those abominable Duetz jiggers used too.
Ford never fixed this complaint over the years either, very distinguishable way to easily identify them, even at night.

This following statement was written on the wall of the bar at the Blue Heeler pub at Kynuna, before it was done up for the tourist, everybody/anybody could add a message or something, it made extremely interesting reading, while having a cold fizzy one.

"Driving a louie, is like getting a head job from a homo, it feels good, -- till your caught doing it."

Pretty much sums up what a louie really is. ;D

Sorry chocs, had to be said.

Did not think that Ford ever made a longer chassis than about a 220 inch wheelbase ex factory.
The only stretched chassis tray trucks that are on the road, were done in Lindsay Bros workshop at Coffs. When they were flogged out at about the 5,000,000 Km mark, they stripped them down , stretched the chassis rails and added a tray to them. They sent these reborn tray trucks out to the different depots, as pick up trucks to deliver to the centres, for a full trailer load to be made up.

I could be up the creek with this lot, but IDSTBC, yadda, yadda, etc, etc.

Well i can tell you that it was originally a prime mover with a 36" bunk 350 / 400 cummins on hendrickson.
Carted general, went onto stock, back to general / bulk.
It was stretched in Geelong by the owner and an assistant..
We made the 55" bunk while it was till a prime mover..
Thats not the only one thats been stretched down here either..
