Good on you jimbo, this will be a great tread. Heres some shots of a memorable KT450 SAR. Ron Fews from Coffs Harbour when I first went in it in 1980.
Someone will have shots of it back in the day with the murals on the doors (ie Baxters).
I took these at on the 22 5 05 at Brown & Hurleys w/shop Kyogle as they were finishing her off for the trip to Alice Springs.
Showing the Harbour Bridge reinforcing on the axle housings.

Smashing idea, Jimbo. How many were built? Could we find pics of them all?
I'm repeating the shots from the Hume thread but for the sake of completeness...
Apologies in advance if I post something that's not an SAR. KW IDs aren't exactly my strong suit.

FWIW
Twaz the 60's when we were screemin out for more power in a short truck to drag big float loads mainly in n around the suburbs of Melbourne..... stop start etc
(we even enquired bout gas turbine LOL)
then ol Bill @ one of the Kenworth doos told m bring back the 'S' model Kenworth
not too much later after Kenworth started make n the trucks @ Bayswater the SAR appeared with much more HP than the previous trucks we ran
we ordered a specially built KW SAR for big float work
Twaz Duble Chassis, Detroit 8V-92T @ 430 HP.. RT 1215..Eaton 44DT duel range diffs... Big 6 with harbor bridge modification
a Huge truck for the@ era 1976 .....nowa days U need 600 hp for a tray truck
the SAR has had a few engine upgrades n now 520HP n the cog box duble OD 18 speed (now puttn fuel back in the tank as it twaz originly geared to 95kph)
it still out performs modern trucks with Computer lag BS on take off fully loaded
