Way Back When
I do remember hear n th@ Ron Kadenzie (spl it any way U like) OakGrove Trucking (WotEver) travelled the back rds BTween Mansfield n Maryvale in the Latrobe valley cartn wood chips
n the locals commented th@ this truck twaz the only truck they ever seen th@ had to use the brakes go n up hill n around the mountainious terrain
@ the time it was the most powerfull single drive truck in Oz (V8-71 @ 318HP)
Now in Detectives stable

Yes Swishy..... The Oakgrove logging S-921 was a bit of gear for its day.8V71 with N65 injectors (318hp),8125-U (12 speed),R-170 (single drive) @ 5.27 on KW helper spring.Notice the twin 12" air cleaners compaired what seemed to be the norm single 16" with a 8V71. Cheers JOTS.
PS. Swishy congratulations in advance on your 5,000th post.....

...purchased new in 1965, ken moffat drove the truck along with ron godenzi on a 24 hour operation for six years straight, with ron doing the paperwork and ken doing the maintenance on the sunday arvo...

ken was extremely proud at the S model day in 2005, to say how they never put a scratch on her in them hard working years carting woodchips from noojee to the APM pulpmill at maryvale

...ken went on to buy none other than swishy's old 6V71 S model, working her on the thompson dam project (alongside at least two other S models)

...ron passed away quite a few years ago...R.I.P.

g'day jimmy, not a bad assumption..only that those MS kennys were REAL poverty packs...no external sunvisor, single headlights and a very plain (vocational) spec..

the liquid cartage S model ended up with a centre mount pair of airhorns and also merv o'briens cameron S922 had a pair of dodgy LH side mount horns

hope all this helps... :)

Here's another pic of the Liquid Cartage S-922,not sure what point in it's life it got the air horn fitted...
This was chassis #100737,6V71,5C72 (5 speed),FE 900,TKD-570 (pusher axle),RT-340 (2 speed) @ 4.89/6.59 on Page & Page 6509. Cheers James.

That is a very interesting point Swishy.... what were they offering for 430 HP???
I have been informed Cummins had a VT8-430 (950 cubic inch) which was a V8 turbo charged engine on offer at 430 HP at the time (1963) in Automotive application.Would possibly have been more in off-highway application.Maybe our Cummins guru's might know a little more....
Don't know of any to come to Australia...
Cheers James.
