The dark green cab is slightly different, no storage compartments at either side under the bunk.
Would make engine access a little better though.

Well ... almost an AEC. But it's got a big cab. This was the NT Fire Service 1974 ERF with a Metz turntable ladder on it. Powered by an 8 cylinder in-line 6.5 litre Rolls Royce B81 petrol engine.
After it was decommissioned the ladder was cut up for scrap and the truck given to Bushfires NT as a flat tray truck. It now rests unused in the yard of a local engineering shop..

LAD sleeper cabs were available from the factory, on the Beaver and the Contractor.

Mammoth your mention of sleeper cab LAD Beavers for Army work ties in with my memories of the Dept of Supply trucks.
Their Brisbane depot was down by the river at Bulimba.
They were brown or khaki coloured, no fancy camouflage paint job like today's trucks, and there weren't all that many on the road. (late 60's)
Then mid 70's saw the big Army contract go to Volvo/Mack from their new assembly line out at Wacol.

G'day Gentlemen
I remember some Commonwealth dep!t used to run to WA using sleeper ergo cabs
late 60s early 70s. they used the piggyback from Pt Augusta to Kal Mostly old fellows driving--the were rumored to carry stuff like census forms and occasionally new Bank notes for the west-- a couple of times they had an armed guard rideing shotgun---- they stayed up all night looking out the back of the drivers coach at the truck on the next Flat top back
