Sometimes Sayings.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Lang,
I did see all of that, except for the alternative spelling of "Barc" but I decided that there were so many possible rigging alternatives that i did not bother to repeat it.

This one goes over my head but some of you might like it:-
In balance with this life this death. W.B.Yeats.
The author, Val. McDermid says "that's me, in perfect equilibrium between life and death, sanity and madness, pleasure and pain."

Being of service to others is what brings true happiness.
Marie Osmond.
The good lord makes us all out of iron. Then he turns the heat up and forges some of us into steel.

Good sayings Morris.
Amazing what some singer (or her script writers) can come up with on Twitter and forever more be credited with the wisdom.
She has made a living out of quotes but whether original or traditional they finish up on the net as all her own work.
Sunday Message
Marie began providing a Sunday Message via her Facebook page and Instagram several years ago. Since its inception it has grown in popularity and has become an inspiration to her many followers. Each message pulls from her life lessons, wisdom gained from her family and sometimes quotes of famous people.
Give me Swishy's little boys any day.
Unfortunately neither is original.
Service and happiness advice goes back long before JC repeated it. The Dalai Lama credits Buddha with the thought. I think Marie must have remembered it from her Mormon Sunday School.
This is just one Biblical quote of several on the subject but it is so much better than Marie's. Not only should you find joy in doing good but you should have a pie in one hand and a beer in the other and whistle while you work. They knew about PR in those days.
“I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil — this is God’s gift to man.” Ecclesiastes
The iron/steel quote goes back to the Middle Ages.
They have been around so long there must be something in them for people to keep them alive and be inspired by the idea.
Thanks for the post.
