These videos are so scary ,I dont drive further than the shops any more.......course the other scary thing is diesel a $2.40 a liter!
I never thought I would see the day when the 350 Chev in the dodge using 98 was cheaper to run than my 2.5 litre turbo diesel iLoad but it's getting close! The day it happens the fun increases!

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

At the moment there are a few off-topic comments about petrol vs diesel running costs with current pricing. Somebody could easily produce a chart but with today's prices in Brisbane here is an indication. I have used kilometres per litre like several European countries (whoever decided on the BS litres per hundred needs his a... kicked).

Petrol normal unleaded $1.90 litre.

Kilometres per litre Cost per kilometre

4.5 42c
5.0 38c
5,5 34,5c
6,0 31,5c
7,0 27c
7,5 25c
8.0 23c
8.5 22c
9.0 21c

Diesel $2.35

4.5 52c
5.0 47c
5.5 43c
6.0 39c
6.5 36c
7.0 33.5c
7.5 31c
8.0 29c
8.5 27.5c
9.0 26c

A personal bug bare of mine is vehicle fuel consumption quoted as "Litres / 100 kms? Did we every quote consumption as

"Gallons / 100 miles" . " NO" Surely it is more important to know how many kms you are getting per litre.????

Multiply that by your tank capacity and you have your approx range.!!!! Not rocket science. Just common sense. Oh. I forgot.

What do they call common sense these days?

Where I live Premium ULP is $2.35/litre.

10 kilometres away it's $1.95/litre.

When I can buy fuel in 80-90 litre loads it adds up real fast.

The diesel equivalent of my vehicle in the range would be just about to become more expensive to run than my petrol version. Of course to buy the diesel version was $15,000 more than the petrol version!

Cobbadog,
A couple of years ago I said to my Marine Engineer mate that it was crazy that diesel that costs a fraction of the cost of petrol to make, costs us more than petrol. He said that it was because all the factories in China cannot get enough electricity so they run big diesel generators.

It all sounds like Male Bovine Excreta to me. I think it is a big rip-off by the oil companies and we are stupid enough to go along with it.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Just imagine the Fuel cost of a roadtrain doing 1.7km/Litre plus the adblue...

Because those that matter...
don't mind...
And those that mind....
don't matter." -
