I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

An amazing job, Fill. It will be much better than new when you have it on the road. Maybe the Beddie will be too good to drive and you will have to display it in a glass case in your loungeroom!

Fill,
been following this with interest, you DO realise that you have set the bar impossibly high for the rest of us wannabe restorers, don't you??
Seriously, a damn credit to you, keep the photos coming for those of us who aren't on Faceache!

yep nice and shiny, wonder how long it will stay that way ?????
I know my mate that painted my Mack gives me a look every time he sees it as I still regard it as a working truck and do try and look after it but it still gets knocks etc

Thanks Tim and Swishy,
This is only a small thing but took a bit of nutting out. When I took the steering wheel off a while ago, I found a broken spring. Tonight I made a new one. At least there are a few pictures. First I got a compressed spring, because it has to be ground flat at each end. I put the broken spring on a bit of conduit. so I could count the rings and measure the length. I cut the new spring and ground the ends flat. I got two washers and cut slots in them so that I could push them into the spring. I put one in and put a bolt through the washer and then put the other washer in the other end. I put it in a vice to hold the washer. Then I got pliers and pulled the bolt to stretch the spring only in the middle and left the ends flat. Yes, a a lot of mucking about. Thanks for looking . Cheers Fill
