Hi Brett thanks for v belt info

At present the engine has power steering belts 10A0950. May b they are not quite the correct ones ???

Could you double check your belt numbers please 11A0965.

Would you have belt number for the compressor on the 392.

Many Thanks
Maurie.

To my mind a belt is a belt. Take the old ones into Bursons, Repco or almost any parts place and they will give you the correct replacement length and cross-section over the counter. If the vehicle has been modified with say different generator /alternator and the originals are on their adjustment limits now is the opportunity to add or delete an inch for a perfect fit.

Bearing supply and industrial hardware outlets can be very helpful too.
Ours in Bayswater Vic carry a good stock of sizes. Good luck, Paul.

Maurie, how well do your power steering belts fit in the pulley grooves? I'm not real sure, but i have an idea the first numbers denote belt width. And i also think the only difference between your 0950 and the 0965 that i quoted, is 15mm in length.

There is also the possibility with a 40 year old petrol Acco that at least something, if not everything has been replaced at some stage, and if parts were sourced from an earlier model then it is possible that the pulleys are different.

And i still think the compressor belt should be - Gates - 13A1410 as mentioned.

Brett.

Replacing in what seems to be a leaking rear main oil seal in a 1981 1910C Acco 392 seems to b a fairly big job.

Any one have experience or suggestions in this field ???

Thank you.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationMaurice Every time i start a simple job like this It Morphs into;
1)Rebuild the Gearbox.
2) buy a new Clutch Kit.
3) machine the Flywheel.
4) replace all the Unis.

The seal (& or the Speedi Sleeve) will be the cheapest part of the whole exercise..LOL..

Having said , Your gearbox is heavy & awkward to handle . You'll need some way of SAFELY removing It..!!
i have no idea on what facilities you have (or Don't have).

But I'd use something like This..

"Be who you are and say what you feel...
Because those that matter...
don't mind...
And those that mind....
don't matter." -

There is no way that I would not fit a speedi-sleeve when fitting a new seal. I hate to have to go back and do it again because there was a small lip on the surface. It is a very cheap piece of insurance.

When oldmate had to drop and refit the gearbox in his Inter, he spend an hour or so making a cradle out of some scrap plywood or particle board to fit the bottom of the box and fit onto his trolley jack. Made the job safe and pretty easy (It was $499 cheaper than the one on eBay but does not come with the rubber mat on top)

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

These model ACCO's are pretty much all the same

IH made a big deal out of the fact that transmission and gear box came out easily as one to make it quicker safer and easier to work on

I used one of these to take the gearbox out of my ACCO 1830B,but you will need a trolley jack.
