No, not my Dad, Seed. Same sort of banger he used to get around the country in tho!
But those valiants must have come out of Adelaide, (I think?) And dad didn't like going to Adelaide, he thought it was boring. Mebourne to Brisbane was his normal stamping ground, with the occasional detaour to some backwater here or there.
That old Benz would be working hard with that load on her, Overlander. The wind used to play havoc with the car carriers, and many a time I remember sitting beside dad when the old 1418's would not pull top gear in any sort of wind, head, side, or anything short of a tailwind. Dad would sit there swearing and cursing "this bloody truck".. and lets face it, top speed for a garden variety 1418 Benz was 54 MPH, thats was with the "high speed diff"... So one gear down means travelling along at, oooh, an earth shattering 40-45MPH I guess.
Bloody slow, bloody hot. Bloody great for a kid tho, adventure plus.
The kellogs trailer- now there would be a to[pic in itself....
Cheers
