Swishy, 900 series= drop front frame rails, 900 cab.
921= single drive, torsion bar or leaf spring.
922= single drive with pusher 4 spring
923= tandem drive on KWRA and opt Hendrickson plus others
W series = different cab, straight rails and bolt on drop section.
Cam, early W had a steel roof, and you can pick it, more rounded.

Is there any features to look out for if I see it again? eg numbers on rego sticker. What made me take the shot was the Seattle USA badge, which I guessed at the time meant it was imported.

Coupeute, a 900 cab has a full length piano hinge in the doors, and the angle for the vent window in the doors goes from the top to the bottom of the doors, the doors have square corners at the bottom and go all the way to the bottom of the cab.
A W cab has bulkhead doors like a K model, rounded in all corners and a piano hinge only for the straight edge to the bottom of the window.

Has that got an inline 671??

I was painting a benz for him many years ago and took an extreamly similar looking buggy for a spin around north shore one night..
Absolutely playin a tune on it..in between all the steel sheds!!! ;D

chocs, I think the 923 from Ballan is originally the Ken Plowright truck, sister to the Les Sharpe truck which is the Nelson Bros. truck, the brown and yellow tipper in Swishy's little pic in post #11.

There was a company in Tassie A.M.S, that was the Kenworth agent in the early 70's. will try and dig out some photos when i get home. Was acompany in Brighton near Hobart that had Kenworths and White's. Leo Geffries.. He had a Kenworth with a wood frame cab on tipper work with the Hydro on the west coast. Any idea of model?? was in the early 60's i think.. Will search through some of the old photos. If i ever get home ;D

Keep old inters alive.

Old AB, I was at Brighton in 78, the old KW I saw at Jeffries' yard was a two tone blue 923, it had a folding bonnet and steel guards. It entered service late 64 with a 6I71 GM. There was also an SAR there.

Hi All, I have bum steered you all,
In an earlier post I said
"Jimbo, apart from the cab, they have a different chassis."
I'm wrong they are basically consdered the same chassis.
Early W model had one piece drop frame rail.
a 900 = a drop frame as Swishy said, early W model used one piece drop frame rails. Later W with bolt on front drop section is considered the same, i.e. -a drop frame.
So it is just the W cab as Jimbo said.
Regards Jeff.
