g'day all .. with clarkie440 our man on the ground over there up around Geraldton WA, we may be able to find out a bit more about this firm, the trucks, and their origins ....

...got one pic of the long hood Kenworth i can put up, when ol' mate and m'self were travelling around Aus in 1982 but being a front on shot....doesn't show the length of this mighty banger :'( :'( :'(

Wesfarmers Transport commenced operations as Gascoyne
Trading in the north of Western Australia in 1924 and was
one of the oldest established transport operations in WA.
Gascoyne Trading became part of the Wesfarmers Group in
the 1950s and quickly expanded its operations. The
Gascoyne Trading business was traditionally involved in
general freight, developing an extensive linehaul operation
between Perth and Darwin and servicing the majority of
centres in the north of Western Australia.
In 1984 Wesfarmers Transport acquired a 50% interest in
Total Western Transport Pty Ltd from Mayne Nickless
Limited and operated that business as a joint venture with
the West Australian Government Railways until 1996 when
it acquired the remaining 50% interest. Further acquisitions
of Key Transport and Marsh Transport added to the network
distribution within regional Western Australia. Total West
evolved into a road freight operation. Since June
1996 the combined Gascoyne Trading and Total
West businesses have operated as Wesfarmers
Transport.

TOLL took over Wesfarmers Transport in 2001

(I drove a D series Ford for Total Transport in 1976/77 when I was on a break from University)

The long nose Foden was a made up beast by Diesel motors in Perth.They took front axle and long springs from a Mercedes to make it ride better.Took a Foden S40 steel cabover ,cab moved it back over the Gearbox and grafted on their locally made long bonnet
From memory it had a Cummins motor and I remember the workshop had fitted two Mufflers but had to remove one --- the driver had complained he could not hear the motor for gear changes through the hills outside Northampton.

A friend of mine has a Gascoyne truck ,he's looking for photos of it ,1977 mack r700 797rsx 375hp 12 speed, triple rail ,9ton front axle ,58.000 lb rear,any photos or info would be greatly appreciated steve

Probably a cockies truck now.
I will ring my mate at Kenworth parts on Monday and get him to run the chassis number.
