I found a Commer photo, and now I am in trouble: the resolution on the original doesn't let me count slats in the grille. This one isn't captioned:
www.bing.com/images/search?q=Commer+truc...863eb56H0&ajaxhist=0
Back to Morris. Most of the Morris ones had headlamps faired into the mudgards; Most of the Commers had headlamps on stalks going sideways from the radiator housing. However, one Morris matched that. Two-piece vs one-piece windscreens could be a clue, but the resolution isn't there. I can't find a model code for the Commer: JX is much newer.

Thanks, but I'm out of my depth with Tasmanian registrations. There may well be members there who could get close enough from what they own or see at rallies.

The Morris LC1 had a slight dip in the top of the radiator to accommodate the bottom of the badge.
The Commer N1 had a straight top.
I can't use the windscreen at that resolution.
I had hoped for the hole for the crank handle: one was small and round; the other was large & square. Then I found a small round for the type normally large square.
I can't do anything with the cab shape.
On the basis of straight radiator top, I go for the Commer.
See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commer

When I started putting historic buses with historic trucks, I didn't realise how the topic would grow. Most of mine have been of the classic Australian Flxible Clipper and Bedford SB, with a sprinkling of other types and overseas. 2 years ago, I was given a comprehensive set of beautifully-prepared photos of European trams, with some buses. I have been scanning, and posting to various tram & bus groups, but this one has missed out, and I want the member to see that the work is happening (and others will enjoy seeing the parent types for many which came to Australia).
The prints have been mounted on a backing, with typed captions: all information except the photographer.
This first one is captioned Mercedes O305G (I suspect that the G refers to being articulated). The Mercedes logo has been doctored. Since the operator is FV, I suspect that V refers to VAC (in the other badge), and must be the body builder.
Freiburg im Breisgau (Baden-Württemberg, Germany): Freiburger Verkhers
Mercedes O305G bus 347. Wed.3.11.82. (Roderick Smith collection).

This was passed via an intermediary.
It appeared on a facebook site: 'Have you seen the old Gold Coast'.
The family has given approval for me to repost to bus-specialist groups. I had hoped that they were descendants of the proprietor, and could offer some history of the company and its operations and its people.
Not so, they were simply passengers.
It now falls to bus & truck enthusiast to come up with such a history, for me to pass back.
The first one shows a Bedford OB, operated by Blue & Red Bus Service, tourist coach, Murwillumbah, Coolangatta, Southport It is at Coolangatta station, late 1940s or early 1950s.
The second is on the road to Springfield. This is a mountain and town, in the Gold Coast hinterland, close to Lamington National Park.
Unfortunately, I have been supplied with conflicting versions of the family name: Cockerall or Coterell.
This is my first use of the new direct-attachment feature: a major convenience and time saver for me.

Geez Rodders ...ya got me all excited now .... Blue and Red Co-Ordinated Bus service was owned by Walter Shapowloff from about 1943-45 and he was believed to have replaced the fleet after the war with Mack busses ... reckon these would have been after he sold it to some Brisbane based mob who's name escapes me at the moment.
oh and for those that don't know ... Walter Shapowloff started Kwikasair

Leyland Hippo's
[The words say] This magnificent veiw was taken in the Spring sunshine in March 1945 at the back of South Works, it shows 36 Leyland Hippo's Mk11 for the War Office and a old Leyland Lion LT5 bus with a Leyland body, TJ940, and bus chassis lower left near pole
Bit sad the last one
