A few Car Carriers

greetings. I didn't know that Freightliner made a 4x4 highway truck until I saw that truck on FB. If you go back and look at the side on pic you'll notice the pusher axle and the prop shaft to the front axle. I wonder if it had free wheeling hubs?? Pete

Four Wheel Drive was very popular with the companies pulling twin pups (24 to 28 ft trlrs) in the snowy Rocky Mountains of western USA. Freightliner for Consolidated Freightways, Mack for United Parcel Service, and I know Pacific Intermountain Express had them but can not remember off the top of my head who built them, possibility Freightliner or Peterbilt???
Freightliner also made 6X6's for the construction and Hawaiian sugar cane industries.

What happened to those car carriers they used to call "stingers"?.
Used to see a lot of them over at Nhill doing changeovers, was it Finemores who had a swag of them?

Those two Buicks on top look like they are painted in later, or photo shopped

I'd say when the photo was colourised it made the top two look a bit fake.

I also think those tarps would have flogged all the paint off the roof in 5 minutes.
