We stopped using it on lifts because some of the chemicals in it were believed to cause cancer

Caused a hell of a stink back in the day as we had nothing else suitable to replace it

Im guessing either it wasnt as bad as was thought or the mixture has been changed

Been soaking the injector to get it apart then cleaned. I have the top section and that needle out and free but the bottom one is rock solid. It has been in some thinners for a few days and the 2 hoes in the injector cap are now clear and the cavity behind is clear so the thinners is working from both sides now.
Looks good for the oil primer from a member here, so thank you for that. I need a few dimensions for a fuel tank and although I have the cast iron casting for the air cleaner I am after the outer housing if one is king about please.
I will have a go at using my ultrasonic tank to try and free this bugga up but the thinners is slowly working it's way in.

Rather than risking a sudden case of "DEATH" I will leave the oven alone and use the big bunsen burner if I need to.
Thanks for the idea though.

Good move Cobba. When I was a pup I repaired a leaking header tank on my E-Type with araldite. To speed the process I put it in my future mother-in-law's oven. On completion the entire oven and racks were covered in a stinking tar like substance from whatever coating Jaguar used on their radiators.

I can't think of the right word - berserk is too mild. Although the marriage went ahead my relationship with Poppy never fully recovered from the disaster.

DON'T DO IT!

Brake cleaner seams to work better than thinners I reckon

But a pot on BBQ full of water might keep you in the good books

I do know that in the oven it will not go. The boiling water trick is yet another idea to add to my lists of plans but if I light the BBQ I'm sure it would be an indication that I intend to do the cooking at some point soon, no thanks. Again a tin with water and the bunsen burner sounds safe enough for me.

A saying quite often said by a mate was;
I wear the pants in this family and I will come out from under the bed when I am ready.

I had a bit of time to play today and started with the big bunsen burner to heat up the cast housing and maybe help release more crap or even the needle. It proved to be interesting with a bit of heat soon it ignited some crap inside the cap and a pair of flames were shooting out. It burnt for a while and at the same time smoke was coming out the top end like a chimney. I have made a tool to lightly drive onto the top of the needle which in turns grips it and I hoped it would then lift the needle out, not yet. But I did find what appeared to be grease inside now after the heat and burn out. It has not let go as yet but tomorrow is another day as a customer rang me and was in the deep poo stuff again so he turned up and I had to fix his problems and that was the end of play time.
