Looks good

Anymore details on the filter in the radiator hose ?

Have never seen such a thing, most people use a piece of shade cloth or stocking

This looks like the one used blog.championcooling.com/2019/10/28/an-i...h-what-you-dont-see/

but there a lot of variations,

Lots available Paul. I reckon they have saved the day on old vehicles of mine a few times (New radiator but old head and block full of rubbish).

Screenshot from Ebay out of a few pages worth.

They are a good idea Lang, I’ve never seen them before. I used the stainless steel mesh from a tea strainer on my old ute.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

I think it was a smart move by Someguy to include a filter. On nearly every old car I have done I am usually too tight to buy the fancy filters - sometimes the hose to the radiator is too short or too curved to fit one.

I have used the odd sock that comes out of the washing basket (its mate dies and goes to heaven to be reincarnated as a tupperware lid that does not fit anything). In some ways I think the sock is better as screens and those fancy filters only have the cross section of the hose to block. The sock stuffed in as in the drawing right into the radiator top tank has a much greater surface area to continue the flow while collecting rubbish.

They take a couple of minutes to change or clean as they are held in place by folding back over the radiator inlet, sliding the hose over and tightening the jubilee clip. Those who have never had a filter on even reasonably new vehicles will be surprised how much rubbish floats around in an engine and how many radiator tubes they have blocked.

The filter did work and caught some junk, so I am glad I used it. The only issue was that it restricted the flow and made the engine run hot sometimes.
here's a video of the engine running after setting the valves and rebuilding the carb 8 times haha.

Zuffen the name 'Mazda' described the style of light back in the day. I don't think Mazda cars where even a thing back then.

I put some stop leak in the coolant under advisement from my machine shop which really plugged up the filter.
I replaced the filter with a regular rad hose after I thought it was clean in there.
The filter had to be cut down as Lang said it's a tight fit.

Why would you put stop leak in a reco engine and new radiator?

I was going to ask the same question. If the filter is blocked like that what do the nice clean radiator tubes look like?

I knew somebody would ask this.

After running the engine for a bit, the middle frost plug started weeping.
It was a stop gap measure to carry me through until I can deal with it properly. I am told this is a common problem
with these engines. The sealant is only reactive to becoming exposed to air and remains suspended and also can easily be flushed.

I will not include a photo due to it making me angry when I see it haha.
