Gentlemen
Ive finally pulled out the water pump & fuel tank which for the most part has been successful.
locating bolt on the top of the water pump seems to have done a runner or I cant remember it ever being there.
either way the water is pissing out of there.
There doesn't appear to be a thread in there which seems strange.
Couple of points: how much importance does this bolt have? Can I seal it up?
does anyone happen to have a photo of it or better still one lying around that I could buy?
cheers

I think you'll find this is just a drain hole that indicates your front seal is leaking. I had one similar to this on a Chev V8 start leaking and to get me home (I was interstate at the time) hammered a black plastic upholstery plug in and stopped it from leaking. Bodgy builder left it there for about two months before fixing the pump.

Bedford Truck and Coach Manual has the 214 engine in it. TS1084

Fairly common on ebay.

The cross sectional diagram sort of shows 2 drain holes for the seal. (The hole is the front seal drain.

As an aside it looks like the RTV sealant has been on special. You need to be careful to only put the minimum required on joint faces as too much ends up with bits breaking off inside, out of sight, and getting into places where troubles may arise.

Yes mammoth the nephew did get a bit carried away with it.
since those images we've removed and cleaned them up and flushed. So hopefully there wont be any floating bits.

PDU there was a few rust holes on the back plate which were repaired. So I think its a case of sending it off to be reconditioned. I might have to get some of those upholstery plugs.....!!lol

Pauliey. My O series had what looked like the same water pump, I had to get a new bearing and seal, the bearing was an off the shelf job (probably ford) but needed step machined in the shaft, and the bakelite washer was not readily available so I put the old one in backwards... no leaks. :silly: Cost... about $40.oo

Hope yours works

Paul,

PM me your email address. I've scanned the manual showing how to repair it with the correct set up dimensions for the 214.
