Damn, I could have used the wire bristles to ward off any unwanted approaches . . .
. . . why do these ideas always come a bit late?

For rust prep instead of buying expensive tins go to commercial cleaning supplies and buy phosphoric acid which is the active ingredient. Put dilute solution into spray bottle and splash all over. Rinse off later if you feel like it. next step is to use etch primer and can stay that way until you are ready to paint the whole job.

To anybody/everybody: I'm looking for one parking light (even just the main body will suffice; take a closer look at the one on the front guard, in my previous post).
mammoth: Too late, already bought, but not too expensive. And followed up by Kill Rust, which I already had from previous jobs - treats and primes in one coat.
Lang: Carefully, for sure.
Morris: Already responded. Magic stuff
AND Dave: From the l-o-n-g running wheel dilemma post, and for the uninformed . . . another story like mine where it all seems to be one step forward and two steps back!

Late News, some time back when using one of these wire brushes on my angle grinder, I too was being 'pricked' and some hurt when hit the wrong parts. Straight inside and on Fleabay and bought a full length leather apron about $30.00 delivered, best investment.
As for the phosporic acid trick the last lot I bought was from Bunnings and it was a Bondall product and not badly priced and still have some.
Definitely worth some etch primer after all that treatment to get back to naked metal. For years I have been a sook in the cold but this year if no breeze blowing I don't seem to be handling it too badly but just this week pulled on the jeans. When Dee and I met it was obvious of her UK heritage and she told me she came out in 1964, with which I claimed 'oh, your a ten pound pom'. NO was the immediate reply, being a child she was half price. Talk about being ripped off, I now married a 5 pound pom.

No, Dee is snoring at the moment. I can hear her from here. I have already told her I was ripped off by the under age rip off, but yes I am glad.
