Paul - Fuel + boost + revs = 700Hp, but I'll ask when I see the bloke who lent me the photo- one of the 'Supertuners' is currently in Brisbane and back in a few weeks and the third fella I haven't seen for a couple of years. But yeah- pump lots of fuel with lots of air and another 1000 revs or so and you'll get what you're hoping for so when I see Mark next week I'll see what light he can shed. Pete

Sounds about right, I wonder if it was compund turbo or just needed two to get that much air in

I was watching old excavtors on youtube and the 1266 Koering (not sure about that spelling) had twin 12V71 turbo charged motors

A huge digger out of the at a guess 70's

I reckon after closer study of the photo that it wasn't compound turbo

And can you find out if it was dynoed for the 700 hp

The reason I ask is my brother was asking me about Mack motors and turning them up from 285 to 350 and so on

Everybody that has one has them turned up except me I think, or I should say allegedly has them turned up

Anyway my brother asked me how he could tell by looking and I dont think you could with a Mack

Anyway we got onto dyno testing of truck motors and neither of us new if it was even done to prove the horse power ratings

Sorry Im taking this way off topic now , just rambling

Paul- both the 8v & the 12v were dyno tested on the engine dyno. These 2 photos popped up on F-Book.

William Adams Clayton used a chassis dyno even back in the 1970’s. Good, as ran engine and whole drive line under full power. Pick up any problems before leaving their shop.

Sounds feasible to have 700+ from an 871TT.
Us Army tanks with 903 at 1000 HP
Short service life of course.
Senior technician at Adams said Cat 3208 trialled at 350 HP but with reliability issues.

Back in the 80's I did a short training course at Cummins in Melbourne where they told us of the 1000hp 903s. They were intended for use in light weight landing craft with an engine life expediency of approximately 6 minutes on full power.
