A vital bit of gear missing with the Brisbane clean up this time around was the old fashioned garbage trucks.
Last time, the trucks idled up the streets and you could chuck your rubbish in the back, it got compacted and they moved on.
The new wheely bin design trucks are useless for this job, especially the separate partition jobs.
No-one is too concerned if the bottles get mixed up with the rubbish at the moment.

I work right beside the Willawong dump on the Southside and the number of half loaded trucks with scrap steel and other recycles mixed in with the other rubbish is unbelieveable. But with the rotting smell coming from it all i wouldn't want to be the one sorting it out.
Another vital bit of gear missing is the street flushers. Council had four A4 Leaders and an 1830 ACCO (learnt all about road rangers in that one) that used to wash the streets down. Can't use them now because of the damage to the environment!
A good storm causes more stuff to be washed down street drains than this.

I wonder how many people/factories/businesses in QLD were insured like old mate down here, he knew the water was coming, rang his insurance man... no, no flood insurance EXCEPT for his vehicles, so went nuts moving everything but the vehicles... until the water arrived.
a sort of win win???
