Back again boys If your truck or bus GVM is 11ton and you pull a trailer over 1ton you will need a log book :)

The question about weigh station. I don't know. But if in doubt pull in. If they chase you because it looks like a bus not pulling in when it should they will find something wrong even when they discover it is a motor home.

And as mentioned previously if in doubt it would be better to err on the side of caution and get waved on than make them chase you down!

q4016Ianz,

You may also have a GCM over 12 tons on the plate anyway so yes you better even if you don't have a trailer!

But if no GCM quoted on the plate they would probably add up the GVM of towing and towed vehicle so again yes you better also!

New catch phrase:-

If in doubt. Fill it out!

Just a quick one on gvm / gcm For those that don't know:
Tare: unladen weight of the vehicle
GVM: Gross Vehicle Mass - Total weight of the vehicle with the load
GCM: Gross Combination Mass - Total weight of the vehicle and the trailer / s

If the vehicle does not have a plated gcm
It is taken to be 60% of the gvm
ie 10t gvm (gcm not plated) 16t gcm
(subject to the carrying capacity of the trailer)

Also remember to keep your old work diary in the truck
so they can go back 28 days or they will take $265.00 off you. Ask me how i know :'(

how do you know?? :( :( :( :(

Recent advice from a person who knows......
(victoria)
If your book is lost or misplaced or stolen,
you should notify the authority within 48 hours of the said event..
Should you forget to do so...you may find, as a reminder, you are missing just over 2 grand from your wallet!!

No a truck but if you have a new ford ranger or navara that the gvm is 1800kg they can pull a 3000kg trailer ? ;)
