Howdy,

The question im about to ask is probibly stupid and I apologise in advance for it but the drivers diary says drivers of trucks with a GVM of 12 tonne and above must fill out log book.....im okay with that but does it mean is actually over 12 tonne or vehicles rated for a GVM 12 tonne and above ?
Im sure it has been asked before about if your bobtailing a prime mover that has a GVM above 12 tonne do you need to run the book ?

Single drive primemover

but can lead to interruption of th@ ifn U wanna run it past a beak
even ifn U put singles all round the truck is bilt n plated for over 12t

Basil,

In one word. YES.

Based on Max weight. So I need it for the ACCO bobtailing as it has a GVM over 12 tonne. Even though bobtailing it would only weigh approx 6 or so. But my AB tray truck has a GVM of 6.8 tonne well under the 12 I don't need the log book at all!

I should elude to where im going with this.
Mt 190 has a GVM of 11,900kg and a GCM of 25,000kg

Seeing the literature says vehicles with a GVM of 12,000kg and above need to use the book technically the 190 bobtail wouldnt.....or am I just being a smartass.

I think the answer would still be yes.

For simple point of what Hayseed indicates. But think it is also worth a bit of log book hassle compared with Police/road authority trouble!

As I think it might be hard to argue as they would ignore the Literature and point to your GCM!

Dunno ifn worth the hasstle
U need to write a letter to WA Roads & National Transport Commision about the need for diary entry
Get it in writing to keep in glovebox of 190 also any paper work including rego papers
(have U TARE weight on Drivers Door)

I'm sure if U rang 3 different Govt depts U'd get 3 different answers or more

but if plod pulls u up n U produce all the above info
I'm sure he'll find something else to grab U for,... to help pay for his effort

eye Kno *Sarge:* wouldn't as he is one of a kind LOL

Hi Swish,

Tare is on my window sticker not door.
I have rung 4 different departments from three states and got two different answers regarding my question hence my throwing it out here for comment.
Deb and I are doing a bobtail ( with sum ballast ) holiday during Aug and Sept through four states and its going to be right pain in the freckle with the book and Deb wanting to stop and take pictures every fifteen minutes.
Yes I could ignore the camera stops and bulk bill from time to time but that isnt right either.
