Just have to wait until 1/1/2013 when the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator comes into play.
Then we will have a national law.... ;D ;D ;D ;D :o :o :o ::) ::) ::)

Been talking about it since the sixties or earlier. A strong vested interest here by senior people in the state transport authorities to preserve their empires.
Just need one set of national regulations.

Just to add to the confusion in QLD any vehicle with tare off 4 ton and over must enter weight-bridge. The new national road rules are to be organised by QLD Tpt ... WA has already pulled out and announced it won't comply with all the changes Peter
