I know about derating.....Inter 1300s were rated at (IIRC )10,000lb,which is a little bit over the 4500kg limit now...50kgs.....one time in Qld they would let you go on it......not now.....it means yearly inspection and the big hit is truck third party.....same for a 4550 kg or 27,000kg............yet certain 1300s had single wheels and register as a ute......On top of all this, reconstruct the same truck as a hot rod ,register as a hotrod, and it goes thru as a ute no worries.

600D was you F350 and import or local unit?
There is provision in VSB 6 section S page 6 for an administrative re-rating of 10,000 lb vehicles (4535 kg) that maybe re-rated to 4490 with out modification.
Have yet to go checked if this will work as I too would like to get my F350 under 4500.
Cheers Steve

She's an AL1, Ive done a few derating mods already but hit paperwork brickwalls every step of the way, one engineer told me the wheelbase was too long to be rated under 4500, which is a load of crap. I will have to look into this one, thanks for the info.

Even more silly, the crowd I last worked for had a Mazda dual wheel truck with a 14x8 ft tray, and it was rego d as a ute........and the thing regularly carried many tons of stuff about.
