OK have come across a problem.
? Has anyone tried to bend the brass valve steams on tubes.
The tubes that i have got have a bent valve on them that only comes out about 3/4" before it bends at 90 deg, as the tubes need to go thru the inner spider i need at least 1.5" before any bends.
Have also checked with 2 tyre places today to see if i can get some tubes with just a straight steam but no luck.
This is the tubes 7.50-20

Trevor, A friend here was able to straighten those valves successfully, for a similar job on a Chev four. Our Chev is at present on old tyres and we used tubes with rubber valves and screwed on extensions for length, not real good as the valves are not in the centre of the tube. David.

we have bent the tube valve stems by placing a slightly bigger pipe over the brass valve stem.......but only a minor bend like ifn U wanna straighten the the bend closest to the valve cap
U can also cut the valve off just above the exposed thread @ the tube end jist above the nut n get a screw on valve stem of your choice
May B best to Give TipTop a ringthing coz they may have travelers around melb th@ may help

Thanks
David
I might try and bend them up first as i have nothing to loose as they are no good as they are.
Swishy
Its the big bend down near the tube that i need to bend, maybe try rema & west bandag.
Wgipps
Will ring antique tyres as the prices at the 2 tyre outlets yesterday was $35 & $50 each for the wrong ones.
Dave
Sometimes it is better to pay a bit more for the correct item than waste days/weeks driving around wasting petrol and still end up with nothing.
I need 5 tubes for this truck and another 5 for the second S-24.

Gday Trev
They will take a tweak..but usually they will break,,,some brands seem to be more of a cast brass mixture??
i have seen them re threaded with an adapter for differing applications,,
If the right ones are available, that would certainly be the way to go..
