if you put in tappered bearings , you will need a back stop for the inner race, will have to alter all the seal , might be chance to replace the seal with a lip seal if tou need to alter things ...

Pre war Chev trucks had ball bearings in the front wheels and were adjustable, the races only had one flange and worked the same as taper rollers. Your truck is looking good. David.
