Hey Slo speed, great looking job your doing and its been a great thread to read, i have a question, you said you used a etch primer then a coat of 2 pack fill primer.....IM not exactly sure what this fill primer is, is this the same thing as what people refer to as spray puddy?

This might help with what it is, because you can never be sure what type of paint was used before the etch primer is just a double security to make sure the rest of the paint sticks

Engine was painted over this weekend and is now sitting back in position.

Spare sump is on the engine at the moment as still need to finalize the oil pick up before i bolt the freshly painted one on.

Its amazing how a colour changes just with or without a flash

This is the engine hanging ready to paint

Started to clean up all the fiddly engine bits getting them ready to paint along with the cowl, started to look at the body panels and will try and get them sand blasted this week so we can see if/how much work is required to repair them.

New sides have been ordered for the bonnet as one of the old ones has a large rust area on one corner.

Speedos are ready to be picked up after being repaired, headlight buckets are out being re silvered, Radiator surround for this truck should be ready this week, so work is still progressing.

Picked up the Speedos this week but they could not make up the cables for me as they did not have the correct ends, Might need to call on Stu's help again to machine up some ends so i can then have the cables made (just need some time to measure and draw them up).

Picked up the radiator surround from the chrome platers and after one false start and it having to be redone i am very happy with it now.

Body panels are all ready to go to the sandblaster and spent another $700 on paint supplies ready for the next painting stage. Total paint supplies cost so far and i hope this will be all of it is about $1500.

Starting to think about finish on the cab & tray dont know if i should use a urathane product or just stain it, also need to sort out any sign writing that i want on it should the signwriting be done first before the stain or urathane is applied.

Hi Trevor,

I just deck oiled mine several times (before and after assembly) as I intend to put stuff on in and walk around, loading stationary engines etc often in the rain with wet or muddy shoes on. For the same reason I didn't sand the timbers in the hope of keeping some grip.

If you use the polyurethane products similar to what is used on floorboards they can be dangerous to walk around on if it gets damp at all. Also any marks from loads will show immediately

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!
